St. Anthony School follows the curriculum guidelines embraced by the Archdiocese of New York. In addition to the Common Core Learning Standards, our faculty adheres to the New York State Syllabus and Archdiocesan Religion Education Guidelines. St. Anthony School’s curriculum is determined by the New York State Department of Education and meets the standards of the School Office of the Archdiocese of New York.
With a class where there is no right or wrong answer as long as you are being creative with your assignment, this once a week Art Class allows grades 3-8 to express themselves through art projects while also learning various art techniques from around the world. Knowing how hard somethIng is to make often leads to appreciating the beauty in the art around us.
The Math 9 program is an advanced math course offered to students in the 8th Grade who show an aptitude for mathematics. The class is in addition to the required 8th Grade math class. This is a high school level course, which prepares the students to take the New York State Regents exam in June. High Regent exam scores qualify students for advanced placement in high school.
St. Anthony School prepares students for a high school foreign language program by offering Spanish. Students immerse themselves in the Spanish culture using conversational techniques, reading and writing platforms, and special projects designed to enhance their comprehension.
Students in Grades 3 through 8 meet for Spanish class twice a week.
Another key way of expressing oneself is through music. Students in grades 3-8 participate in music lessons once a week. From the basics of putting note after note together to more complex tasks such as sightreading, these students are gifted with music knowledge that will help them further in any musical pursuit they may pursue.
